The issues of expanding cooperation between Tajikistan and China in the areas of economic development, trade, industry, transportation, and agriculture were discussed in Dushanbe during negotiations between Tajikistan's Minister of Economic Development and Trade Zavqizoda Zavqi Amin and the Director of the Silk Road Fund of the People's Republic of China, Cai Xiuyun, reports the press service of the Tajik ministry.

Zavqizoda noted that the strategic cooperation between the two countries has reached a qualitatively new level. China is the second-largest trading partner of Tajikistan and also holds a significant share in the investment sectors of the national economy.

In 2023, the foreign trade turnover of Tajikistan with China amounted to $1.5 billion, an increase of 24.2% compared to 2022.

During the meeting, Zavqizoda presented Tajikistan's investment opportunities in connection with the allocation of 26 billion yuan aimed at financing the countries of Central Asia by the People's Republic of China.

Proposals from Tajikistan for a number of projects that were previously sent to the Chinese side for consideration with the approval of the Government of Tajikistan were positively received. Accordingly, projects such as the "Modernization of the Tajik Aluminum Plant (TALCO)", "Construction of a Solar Power Plant in Asht District", "Creation of a Textile Enterprise in the City of Dushanbe based on LLC 'Tajik Textile Production Association'", "Creation of a Logistics Center in Dangara District", "Construction of a Joint Industrial and Technological Park", "Construction of Greenhouses in Khatlon Region", and "Upgrading the Guliston-Kulyab and Rushan-Varshez Highways" will be implemented with the support of the Chinese side.

At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness to expand mutually beneficial cooperation.
