Representatives of the countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization supported the proposal of Kazakhstan to assign the city of Alma-Ata the status of the cultural and tourist capital of the organization. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Kazakhstan following the online meeting of the heads of the ministries of culture of the SCO.
“The ministers of the SCO member countries supported the proposal to approve Almaty as the cultural and tourist capital of the SCO for 2023-2024,” the report says. The event was attended by representatives of Russia, India, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Pakistan.
Kazakhstan will chair the SCO from July 2023 to July 2024.
