The income of the state energy holding Barki Tojik in Tajikistan from energy exports in 2022 amounted to $106 million, which is 10.6% more than in 2021.

Back in early 2022, the head of Barki Tojik, Madumar Asozoda, said that Tajikistan intends to export 1.5 billion kWh of electricity to Afghanistan per year.

This is stated in the agreement signed with the Afghan company Breshna in December 2021 in Tashkent. According to the signed contracts, the price of one kWh of energy for Afghanistan is 4.67 cents, Asazoda said.

In early January 2023, the Afghan company Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) announced the signing of an additional protocol to the agreement on the export of Tajik energy resources to Afghanistan for 2023.

According to the state energy holding Barki Tojik, over 1 billion 257 million kWh of electricity worth $56 million was exported to Afghanistan last year.
