The current state and prospects for cooperation between Tajikistan and China in increasing mutual trade turnover became the main topic of discussion between the Director of the Export Agency under the Government of Tajikistan, Bakhriddin Sirojiddinzoda, and the Economic and Trade Advisor of the Chinese Embassy in the Republic of Tajikistan, Sun He, reports NIAT 'Khovar' citing the Export Agency.
The parties paid special attention to strengthening trade and economic ties, providing logistics services, increasing Tajikistan's export potential, and modern methods of packaging exported goods and products. Bakhriddin Sirojiddinzoda noted that Tajikistan has significant potential to increase the supply of domestic products that are in high demand in the Chinese markets.
There is particularly high demand for fresh and dried apricots, raisins, dried fruits, nuts, apricot kernels, peanuts, mulberries, and honey. In this regard, there is a need to support domestic producers and take additional measures necessary to coordinate regulatory requirements for the supply mechanism and the accreditation of exporters in the Chinese market.
During the meeting, issues related to ensuring the regulatory and legal framework for expanding the export registry of Tajikistan’s agricultural products and their processed goods to China, and accrediting Tajik exporters as direct suppliers to the Chinese consumer market were discussed.
In addition, the parties explored the possibilities of creating technical conditions to align Tajik products with China’s phytosanitary requirements, simplifying and facilitating customs clearance of agricultural products at all border crossings, establishing a Chinese-accredited laboratory at the border crossing, attracting direct investment in the development of the domestic agro-logistics industry, and other related issues.
The Chinese side expressed interest in addressing the discussed issues and willingness to register Tajik exporters in the importers' register of the General Customs Administration of China by developing a corresponding guideline. Relevant agreements on the export of four types of agricultural products, including grapes, cherries, lemons, and dates, have been signed between Tajikistan and the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of China, and a draft protocol on the export of mulberries from Tajikistan to China is under consideration by the parties.
The parties agreed that in the future, the list of export products will be expanded to 12 types.
