The first meeting of the Strategic Dialogue at the level of the foreign ministers of Tajikistan and China was held in Dushanbe. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan, the meeting marked an important step in advancing the political cooperation between the two countries and took place in an atmosphere of trust and constructive discussion, Avesta.tj reports.
The heads of the foreign ministries reaffirmed their commitment to implementing the agreements reached by the leaders of Tajikistan and China during bilateral meetings in 2024–2025. Particular attention was given to the progress made in carrying out the signed documents and projects aimed at strengthening the strategic partnership.
The key topics of the meeting included expanding cooperation in the trade, economic, investment, and industrial sectors. The sides discussed prospects for collaboration in energy, transport, agriculture, the digital economy, and e-commerce. They also addressed the advancement of joint initiatives in innovation, artificial intelligence, the green economy, and environmental sustainability.
In the humanitarian segment of the talks, the parties agreed to continue developing cultural and educational exchanges. The ministers also discussed current regional and international issues of mutual interest.
Tajikistan noted that it continues to examine the issue of possibly joining the Convention on the Establishment of the International Mediation Organization—an initiative currently under consideration at the international level.
Following the meeting, the foreign ministers signed a Joint Statement, officially summarizing the results of the first session of the Strategic Dialogue. The dialogue mechanism itself was created on the basis of agreements between the presidents of the two countries and the Memorandum of Understanding between the foreign ministries, signed in June 2025.
