Tajikistan and EU plan to expand ties

The tenth meeting of the Cooperation Council between Tajikistan and the European Union was held in Luxembourg, Ritmeurasia.org reports.

The talks were held by Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin and Swedish Foreign Minister Tobias Billström.

The parties exchanged views on key aspects of partnership and cooperation between Tajikistan and the EU, including in the political and economic spheres.

The ministers also discussed the current state and prospects for the development of cooperation in the political, trade, economic, water and energy fields, as well as in the field of security, the fight against terrorism and extremism, human rights, and current international and regional issues.

Minister Muhriddin also met with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell. Issues of regional security, the situation in Afghanistan, the threats of terrorism and extremism and other topical issues of mutual interest were discussed with him.
