The International Development Association will allocate grant funds to Tajikistan totaling $116.5 million. Relevant agreements were signed in Dushanbe, Avesta reports.
The documents were signed by Minister of Finance of Tajikistan, Fayziddin Kakhhorzoda, and Permanent Representative of the World Bank in the Republic of Tajikistan, Ozan Sevimli.
In particular, grant agreements were signed for the implementation of projects: the structure and business foundations of the Rogun HPP project in order to increase its environmental and social sustainability, increase transparency and support its implementation ($ 15 million), to support the policy of stable and sustainable development of Tajikistan. The project aims to support the government of Tajikistan in strengthening sustainable development policies by improving the environment for private sector investment, increasing the efficiency, transparency and accountability of the public sector, and strengthening social and environmental stability in crisis situations ($50 million).
The cost of the Agricultural Resilience Project, whose main goal is to strengthen the agricultural sector and take emergency measures to address the food crisis in Tajikistan, will be $50 million.
Among the signed documents is an agreement on the provision of an advance for the preparation of a project for the construction of a private solar power plant in the Sughd region. The main purpose of the advance is the preparation of a feasibility study of the project, a report on the impact of the project on the environment and society, transactional consulting services and the main qualification requirements of the project. The amount of the advance is $1.5 million.
