Tajikistan and IDB discuss priority projects, including Rogun HPP

Tajikistan’s First Deputy Minister of Finance Yusuf Majidi met with Rami Ahmed, Vice President for Operations of the Islamic Development Bank Group (IsDB), in Jeddah to discuss key national projects, including the construction of the Rogun Hydropower Plant, Khovar reported.

Both sides expressed satisfaction with the current level of bilateral cooperation and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the strategic partnership in areas such as energy, infrastructure development, rural advancement, the private sector, and digitalization.

During the talks, the Tajik delegation proposed that the IsDB allocate additional concessional financing to implement priority projects in education and healthcare. Particular attention was given to assessing the strategic importance of the Rogun Hydropower Plant in ensuring Tajikistan’s energy security and sustainable development.

Cooperation with the Islamic Development Bank remains a key component of Tajikistan’s foreign economic policy, aimed at attracting investment into the country’s core economic sectors and social infrastructure.
