A delegation from the Republic of Tajikistan met with IMF Deputy Managing Director Bo Li at the International Monetary Fund headquarters in Washington on October 14. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Annual Meetings of the World Bank and IMF, Avesta.tj reported.
The Tajik delegation was led by Minister of Finance Faiziddin Qahhorzoda and Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan Firdavs Tolibzoda. Both sides praised the current level of cooperation, noting the positive results of the Policy Coordination Instrument, which has contributed to strengthening economic partnership and financial stability in the country.
Discussions focused on the future of bilateral engagement, including the continuation of structural reforms, expansion of financial system digitalization, enhancement of institutional capacity, and development of IMF-supported technical assistance mechanisms. The Tajik side also proposed exploring the possibility of concessional financing through the IMF’s Resilience and Sustainability Trust, aimed at supporting macroeconomic stability and promoting sustainable growth.
At the conclusion of the talks, the parties emphasized the importance of further cooperation in public financial management, improving the investment climate, and expanding technical assistance. They also discussed Tajikistan’s potential transition to a full-scale IMF financial program in the future.
