The head of Tajikistan’s State Financial Control and Anti-Corruption Agency, Sulaymon Said Sultonzoda, held his first official meeting with newly appointed IMF Resident Representative Ghazi Shbaykat, marking the start of a strengthened collaboration on governance reform, Avesta.tj reports.

Director Sultonzoda welcomed Shbaykat to his new post and expressed confidence in productive cooperation. The two officials focused discussions on Tajikistan’s “Policy Coordination Enhancement Program,” with particular emphasis on public officials’ asset declaration systems — a cornerstone mechanism for ensuring transparency and accountability in government.

Shbaykat commended Tajikistan’s anti-corruption efforts and highlighted the Agency’s measurable progress. He reaffirmed the IMF’s commitment to supporting structural reforms aimed at strengthening institutions and restoring public trust in state finances.

Both sides agreed to expand joint initiatives, including technical assistance, knowledge exchange, and performance monitoring of anti-corruption measures.

The meeting, held in a spirit of mutual respect and constructive dialogue, concluded with shared optimism: the agreed-upon steps will enhance institutional transparency and improve the efficiency of public resource management — critical priorities as Tajikistan pursues ambitious economic growth targets recently endorsed by the IMF.
