Tajikistan and Iran discussed use of international transport corridors

Representatives of Tajikistan and Iran held a meeting of the Joint Committee on International Transport Corridors of the two countries in Tehran, chaired by the Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development of Iran, Doryush Amoni.

The delegation of Tajikistan is headed by Deputy Minister of Transport Shoista Saidmurodzoda, the press service of the Iranian embassy in Dushanbe reported.

During the meeting, Tajikistan's interest in directing its trade flows through the Iranian southeastern port of Chabahar was outlined. This will allow the republic to gain access to the international arena in a new status.

Previously, Tajikistan and Iran agreed on the exchange of electricity, trade in medicines and medical equipment. In recent years, the two countries have been especially intensively increasing cooperation in a variety of areas.
