Tajikistan and Kazakhstan Agreed to Simplify Transit Traffic

DUSHANBE - Tajikistan's Transport Minister Azim Ibrokhim held talks with Kazakhstan's Transport Minister Nurlan Sauranbayev at the 18th TRACECA meeting, where the parties discussed the development of bilateral cooperation in the transport sector, Avesta.tj reports.

The focus was on road and rail transport, as well as strengthening international transport corridors. The Tajik side emphasized that Kazakhstan remains one of Tajikistan's key partners in the region.

In the first four months of 2026, road freight traffic between the two countries increased by 5.8%, with the total volume increasing by 5.8% and the number of vehicles by 17.9% compared to the same period last year.

The positive trend continues in rail traffic. In 2025, freight traffic exceeded 5.6 million tons, more than 621,000 tons more than in 2024.

The ministers also agreed to continue joint work on developing transport routes, simplifying transit, digitalizing transportation, and expanding infrastructure capacity between the two countries.
