The state visit of Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Tajikistan was marked by the signing of a treaty on allied relations between the two brotherly countries. According to Tokayev, the conclusion of the treaty "marks the beginning of a qualitatively new stage of bilateral cooperation. From now on, the two brotherly peoples can confidently speak of an alliance between our countries," said a statement from the press service of the President of Kazakhstan.
This event, noted the Kazakh leader, gives a powerful impetus to the progressive strengthening of Kazakh-Tajik relations, which are based on mutual respect, trust, and comprehensive cooperation. "Tajikistan is a reliable friend and time-tested ally for us, with whom we are firmly connected by a common history, culture, and spiritual values. We consistently maintain close and trusting political dialogue at all levels and are building a common future in the spirit of genuine friendship and mutual support," emphasized the Kazakh leader.
During the visit, special attention was given to issues of bilateral trade. Over the past five years, the annual trade turnover between the two countries has more than doubled, exceeding $1 billion. The results of the current half-year are also very optimistic.
