In 2024, there were 15 meetings between the topographic teams of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, resulting in the coordination of approximately 170 km of the border.
Arif Khodzhazoda, the chairman of Tajikistan's State Committee on Land Management and Geodesy, announced this during a press conference. He mentioned that ongoing negotiations between the two countries are in progress, and Tajikistan is making efforts to resolve the issue as soon as possible.
Khodzhazoda noted that the negotiation process is not always public, and an agreement on information disclosure will be signed once both sides reach consensus.
The total length of the Tajikistan-Kyrgyzstan border is approximately 987 km, with around 890 km of the state border already coordinated.
Recently, Kyrgyzstan's Foreign Minister, Zheenbek Kulubaev, officially visited Dushanbe, where he held talks with his Tajik counterpart and President Emomali Rahmon. Following the meeting, Rahmon announced that 90% of the state border description has been completed, and a two-year cooperation program has been agreed upon. Additionally, 4 km of the state border were coordinated by the topographic commissions of both countries.
