Tajikistan and Pakistan stand for inclusive government in Afghanistan

Tajikistan and Pakistan are in favor of creating an inclusive government in Afghanistan, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon told after talks with Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif in Islamabad, Ritmeurasia reports.

“We are most interested in restoring lasting peace, stability and national harmony in the long-suffering land of Afghanistan,” Rahmon said at a press conference in Islamabad. “In this context, the need to create an inclusive government in Afghanistan, taking into account the broad participation of political and ethnic forces,” was emphasized.

"We also supported constructive efforts at the international and regional levels," Rahmon added. He stressed that Tajikistan and Pakistan have a common or similar position on major international and regional issues.

The President of Tajikistan noted that at the meeting with Prime Minister Sharif, they discussed in detail issues of cooperation in the field of security. "We underscored our commitment to continue to jointly counter today's dangers and threats," Rahmon said.

The President of Tajikistan is in Pakistan for an official visit.
