Tajikistan has entered the Top-10 countries in the world with the highest level of air pollution, Sputnik reports, citing a report by the Swiss company IQAir.

In the first place in the ranking is Chad, on the 10th line (out of 131) is Tajikistan, and this is the worst result compared to the neighboring countries of Central Asia.

Uzbekistan is on the 20th place, Armenia on the 22nd, Kyrgyzstan on the 24th place, on the 40th - Kazakhstan, on the 44th - Turkmenistan.

In general, the level of atmospheric air pollution in industrial cities is as high as it was 5 years ago.

Kulyab was considered the cleanest city in Tajikistan, and Khujand was considered the most polluted. According to the final data, last year the average annual concentration of PM2.5 (dust and pollutants smaller than 2.5 microns) in Tajikistan was 46.0 micrograms per cubic meter.

This is several times more than the WHO norm.

The authors of the study use this indicator for analysis, because such dust easily penetrates the biological barriers of the human body, causing damage not only to the lungs, but also to the cardiovascular system.
