Trade and economic cooperation between Tajikistan and Pakistan is developing, and bilateral relations is reaching a higher level, stated the Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan Zavkizoda Zavki Amin during talks with the Federal Minister of Transport and Investment and Privatization of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Abdul Aleem Khan, Avesta reports.

During the meeting in Dushanbe, the investment opportunities of Tajikistan were discussed, especially in sectors such as textiles, mining, and energy. In this regard, Minister Zavkizoda urged Pakistani companies to establish joint ventures in Tajikistan, to which the Pakistani side responded positively.

Furthermore, both parties expressed readiness to utilize each other's transport corridors. The Federal Minister of Transport of Pakistan noted that his country is ready to use Tajikistan's transit routes as a gateway to Central Asian markets.

At the end of the meeting, both sides expressed their willingness to increase bilateral trade turnover and fully utilize the opportunities of both countries.

Meanwhile, Tajikistan and Pakistan have jointly launched the traffik of cargo caravans. The first shipments arrived in Tajikistan back in April. On this occasion, delegations from both countries met in Tajikistan.

The agreement on this trade was concluded back in 2022.

The length of the new trade corridor along the "Dushanbe - Islamabad" route is over 1000 km. The route partially passes through China, bypassing Afghanistan.

The volume of trade turnover between Tajikistan and Pakistan accounts for 1% of Tajikistan's total foreign trade.

Strengthening trade ties and increasing transit between Central Asian countries and their neighbors only enhances the strategic power of the region. It also impacts the economic well-being of these countries.

This decision opens up access to two Pakistani seaports for Central Asia and provides the opportunity to join the China-Pakistan trade corridor.

Tajikistan is a consumer of Pakistani agricultural products, but the countries do not plan to stop there. Negotiations are already underway to expand cooperation in investments and the supply of Tajik fruits and vegetables to Pakistan.
