Tajikistan continues to steadily develop as a tourist destination, attracting the attention of an increasing number of foreign visitors.
According to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan, 1.2 million people visited the country in the first nine months of this year, representing a 17.3% increase compared to the same period last year.
This growth reflects the rising popularity of Tajikistan on the international tourism scene.
Main Sources of Tourism: Contribution from CIS Countries
The majority of tourists visiting the country are residents of CIS states.
Out of the total 1.2 million visitors, 1.1 million travelers came from these countries. The largest influx was from Uzbekistan, with 746,000 visitors, significantly surpassing other countries.
Russia ranks second, with 329,000 tourists, followed by Kazakhstan, contributing 28,000 visitors.
Tourism’s Contribution to the Country's Economy
The tourism sector remains one of the key industries for Tajikistan’s economy. The development of this sector plays an important role in infrastructure improvement and attracting investments.
It is noteworthy that out of the total number of foreign visitors, 89,100 people arrived with tourism as their primary purpose, underscoring the country's appeal as a destination for travel and cultural exchange.
Tourism not only strengthens international connections but also plays a crucial role in the economic development of the republic, making it a strategically important area for Tajikistan's future growth and prosperity.
