Since 2001, 36 energy projects have been implemented in Tajikistan, with a total investment of $2.7 billion, reports Avesta.tj.
Currently, 18 more projects worth $1.7 billion are being carried out, excluding the Rogun Hydropower Plant (HPP). This was announced by Tajikistan’s Minister of Energy and Water Resources, Daler Juma, during a roundtable discussion held at the Hilton Hotel in Dushanbe, according to the ministry's press service. The event was attended by Dushanbe's Deputy Mayor Sorbon Kholmukhammadzoda, representatives of ministries, agencies, and development partners.
The meeting focused on:
- Ensuring reliable power supply to the capital
- Energy efficiency measures
- Digitalization in the energy sector
- The "Smart City" concept
- Creating a comfortable urban environment
During the discussion, Deputy Minister of Energy and Water Resources, Manuchehr Safarzoda, presented a report on Dushanbe’s current electricity consumption and the measures being taken to stabilize the energy system. He highlighted ongoing efforts to modernize the power grid, improve its reliability, and introduce digital solutions for efficient energy management.
According to the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources, major projects completed over the past two decades include:
- Modernization of hydropower plants
- Construction of power transmission lines
- Integration of new technologies into the energy sector
The development of energy infrastructure remains a key priority for Tajikistan’s government, ensuring a stable and sustainable power supply for the country.
