On December 5, 2023, Tajikistan and China signed an agreement in Dushanbe regarding the opening of a new air route between the two countries, with the participation of delegations from the aviation authorities of Tajikistan and China, Khovar reports.
During the signing ceremony, the parties emphasized that the Chinese side considers Tajikistan's proposal for the opening of a new air corridor important and expresses interest in launching the new route.
At the initiative of the Tajik side and in coordination with the Civil Aviation Management Bureau of China, a meeting was held from April 7 to 11 of the current year between the leadership of the Civil Aviation Agency under the Government of Tajikistan and officials of civil aviation in China. This meeting activated the final stage of the agreement signing process.
As part of the measures taken by Tajikistan's "Tadzhikaeronavigatsiya" State Unitary Enterprise to open the new air route within Tajikistan's territory, the necessary systems and equipment were acquired and installed, such as DME/DME, SSR MLAT, and several modern industry systems, which are considered effective steps towards achieving the goal.
An ADS-B system was also installed, providing coverage up to an altitude of 10,100 meters.
The opening of a new air corridor between Tajikistan and China is expected to contribute to Tajikistan's exit from communication deadlock, attract transit flights, promote industrial development, boost tourism, attract foreign companies to Tajikistan's airspace, expand the number of international flights, and strengthen aviation connections with foreign companies.
