The Government of Tajikistan plans to attract about $1.5 billion of external borrowing in the next three years for the implementation of public investment projects, Avesta reports.
The lower house of the Tajik Parliament approved the Program of State External Borrowings of the Republic of Tajikistan for 2023 and the forecast of indicators for 2024-2025.
Tajikistan's external borrowing program currently includes 60 loan agreements, including 55 existing loan projects and 5 new loan agreements, Tajik Finance Minister Fayziddin Kakhorzoda said at a meeting of the Chamber.
The new loan agreements, totaling $432.9 million, cover the implementation of projects in the fields of energy, transport communications, water supply and agriculture, Kakhorzoda said.
As of October 1, 2022, the volume of the public debt of Tajikistan amounted to $3.8 billion, which is equal to 37.1% of the republic's GDP, the minister of finance of Tajikistan said.
The amount of external borrowings in the structure of the country's public debt is $3.2 billion, and the volume of domestic debt is $600 million.
