Tajikistan preparies for fifth meeting of heads of state of Central Asia

During of two days, on August 9 and 10, 2023, consultations were held in the capital of Tajikistan between representatives of the foreign ministries of Central Asian countries. The main goal of the consultations was to prepare for the Fifth Anniversary Consultative Meeting of the Heads of States of the region, which will take place in Dushanbe, as reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan.

The parties extensively discussed draft documents planned for approval at the summit, including the agenda and Joint Statement.

Additionally, matters related to organizing twelve parallel events, which Tajikistan intends to host as part of the Consultative Meeting, were examined.

The Consultative Meeting of the Heads of States of Central Asia was initiated by the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, in 2018 and took place in Ashgabat.

The second meeting took place on November 15, 2019, in Tashkent, followed by the third Consultative Meeting on August 6, 2020, in Nur-Sultan (at present Astana). Then, in 2021, an online meeting of the Presidents of Central Asia was held. The fourth full-format meeting of the Central Asian leaders took place in Cholpon-Ata in 2022.

The current meeting is scheduled in Dushanbe.
