Tajikistan proposes to Kuwait to create joint Airline

The prospects for further cooperation between Tajikistan and Kuwait were discussed at the fourth meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission of the two countries on trade and economic cooperation, Asiaplus.tj reports.

The meeting was co-chaired by the Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan, Zavki Zavkizoda, and the Minister of Finance, State Minister for Economic Affairs and Investments of Kuwait, Nouri Sulaiman Al-Fassam.

The parties discussed and agreed on a draft roadmap for expanding trade, economic, investment, and tourism cooperation.

The Tajik side presented proposals for attracting direct Kuwaiti investments into priority sectors of the economy, including industry, mineral extraction, textile production and construction materials, agricultural product processing, transport, civil aviation, tourism, education, and sports.

It was also proposed to establish a Joint Investment Fund between Tajikistan and Kuwait to support large investment projects.

It was noted that, to date, the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development has allocated about $200 million to finance projects in Tajikistan’s transport, energy, irrigation, and infrastructure sectors.

The parties also discussed steps to develop cooperation in the field of civil aviation.

In particular, the Tajik side proposed the creation of a joint airline with Kuwaiti investments, as well as the modernization of aviation infrastructure in Tajikistan.

Additionally, the issue of launching a direct Kuwait Airways flight between the capitals of the two countries was considered.

Following the meeting, a protocol of the Intergovernmental Commission was signed, outlining specific measures for further deepening cooperation.
