Tajikistan intends to significantly increase antimony exports: in 2027, it plans to export approximately 15,100 tons worth $737.7 million, and by 2029, to increase export revenue to almost $949 million. These plans are accompanied by the introduction of new production capacity and a gradual transition to deeper processing of the metal, Asiaplus.tj reported.
In 2025, Tajikistan exported $499.9 million worth of antimony and antimony products, almost 1.9 times more than the previous year. According to USGS, in 2024, the country ranked second in the world for antimony production, accounting for approximately 18% of the global total.
Increasing production is particularly important amid growing global demand for critical minerals. Antimony is used in batteries, electronics, fire-resistant materials, and special alloys, and its importance in modern technology is gradually increasing.
Tajikistan, which has significant antimony reserves, is seeking to exploit the favorable market conditions to increase export revenues. At the same time, focusing on domestic processing could allow Dushanbe to capture greater added value, transforming antimony from a primarily export raw material into an important element of its industrial strategy.
