Tajikistan reduced the export of precious metals to a minimum in January 2023, Avesta reports.

According to official statistics, the amount received from the sale of precious metals amounted to only $5,000 in January 2022. A year earlier, this figure was more than $22.8 million.

According to the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies of Tajikistan, there are 18 gold mining companies in the country, and the production of this metal is growing every year.

However, the department does not share data on the actual volumes of gold production, referring to the secrecy of information about the extraction of the precious metal.

In 2022, the sale of precious metals in Tajikistan amounted to 30.7% of the country's total exports. Precious metals were sold in excess of $717.4 million, the Statistical Committee of Tajikistan reported in 2022.
