The Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP) has published the 19th edition of the Global Peace Index (GPI). It covers 163 independent states and territories, accounting for 99.7% of the world's population, in terms of peacefulness. Tajikistan ranked 79th, according to Asiaplus.tj.

According to the authors' findings, the global situation is deteriorating due to increased militarization, rising conflicts, the collapse of traditional alliances, and growing economic uncertainty. However, some countries have shown improvements.

The peace level is measured using 23 qualitative and quantitative indicators across three domains:

- Level of societal safety and security;
- Extent of ongoing domestic and international conflicts;
- Degree of militarization.

The higher the index, the less peaceful the country.

The top five most peaceful countries are Iceland (1.095), Ireland (1.260), New Zealand (1.282), Austria (1.294), and Switzerland (1.294).

At the bottom of the list were Sudan (3.323), Ukraine (3.434), and Russia (3.441).

Tajikistan was ranked 79th, sharing the position with the Dominican Republic with an index of 1.996. Kazakhstan ranked 56th with an index of 1.875, Uzbekistan 67th (1.926), Kyrgyzstan 78th (1.988), and Turkmenistan 87th (2.010).
