A government commission headed by Deputy Prime Minister Sulaimon Ziyozoda was sent to the Rasht Valley districts of Tajikistan affected by the April 13 earthquake, reports Avesta.tj.

According to the press service of the Government of Tajikistan, the order to establish the commission and provide comprehensive assistance to those affected was issued by President Emomali Rahmon.

The commission, which includes representatives from the leadership of relevant ministries and agencies—such as the committees for emergency situations, geology, architecture and construction—as well as local authorities, has begun a thorough assessment of the consequences of the natural disaster.

The main task is to promptly determine the extent of the damage and provide urgent aid to the affected residents. As of the morning of April 14, data shows that 94 residential homes in the Rasht and Tajikabad districts were completely destroyed, 50 were partially damaged, and 61 sustained minor damage.

In addition, three general education schools and about 200 other various facilities were destroyed or damaged.

President Rahmon emphasized that the aftermath of the earthquake must be dealt with without delay: it is essential to quickly determine the scope and mechanisms for providing aid to the population and to accelerate reconstruction efforts.

The earthquake occurred on April 13, 2025, at 09:24 local time. The epicenter was located 160 km northeast of Dushanbe and 21 km east of the center of the Rasht district. The magnitude of the tremors at the epicenter was 5–6 on the MSK-64 scale, and about 3 in the capital. Government bodies continue to monitor the situation and provide support to the affected regions.
