In Tajikistan, as part of the third phase of the "Obigarm – Nurabad" highway construction project, work will begin on building the longest automobile bridge in Central Asia, Avesta reports.

A corresponding agreement was signed between the Ministry of Transport of Tajikistan and the Tajikistan branch of the Chinese company Zhejiang Communications Construction Group Co Ltd (CCCC). The document was signed by Minister of Transport Azim Ibrohim and company representative Li Minkun, according to the ministry's press service.

The bridge will have a total length of 920 meters, extending to 1,500 meters with access roads. It will cross the Surkhob River in the Nurabad district and become the largest infrastructure project of its kind in the region.

As Tajikistan’s Minister of Transport emphasized, the project holds strategic significance for the country’s economy. “The construction of the bridge must be completed with high quality and within the established timeframe, but it may be finished ahead of schedule,” Ibrohim stated.

The total project cost is 427.5 million Chinese yuan (approximately $59.8 million). Construction is expected to be completed within four years with the participation of both Tajik and foreign specialists.

The feasibility study and design were carried out by South Korean companies Dong Maeng Engineering Company, Seng Engineering Company, and Susang Engineering Company in collaboration with the State Institute for Transport Project Design under the Ministry of Transport of Tajikistan.

According to Li Minkun, the Chinese company has been successfully operating in Tajikistan for several years and has extensive experience in road and bridge construction. The project is being implemented as part of Tajikistan’s strategic goal to overcome transport isolation and transform the country into a transit hub.
