Tajikistan exported over $953 million worth of industrial products - excluding precious metals and gemstones - during the first six months of 2025, according to a report by the Export Agency under the Government of Tajikistan, cited by Asiaplus.tj.

Khurshed Zukhurzoda, the agency’s First Deputy Director, noted a 36.6% increase compared to the same period in 2024. This growth was attributed to the diversification of export destinations, modernization of industrial enterprises, and strengthened foreign trade relations.

The main export markets for Tajik products in the reporting period included the Netherlands, China, Turkey, Uzbekistan, and Russia.

However, the agency emphasized that raw materials continue to dominate the export structure - accounting for 70% of total exports - while processed industrial goods made up the remaining 30%, underscoring the country’s ongoing reliance on commodity-based trade.

Top 3 Export Categories

1. Antimony
Antimony topped the list of exported goods, generating $286.5 million in revenue - 3.2 times higher than the $88.3 million recorded during the same period in 2024. Interestingly, the physical export volume declined by 6%, falling to 6,482.5 tonnes compared to 6.9 thousand tonnes last year. This suggests a sharp increase in global market prices or a shift toward higher-value processing.

2. Aluminum
Aluminum ranked second, bringing in $120.5 million - up 33.1% from the previous year. Export volume rose by 23.7%, reaching 47.6 thousand tonnes, up from 38.5 thousand tonnes in the first half of 2024.

3. Metal and Precious Stone Concentrates
Exports of metal and gemstone concentrates earned $98 million, marking a 71.4% year-on-year increase. The volume also saw significant growth, rising by 60.3% to 40.8 thousand tonnes.

Other major export categories included energy resources, textiles, and coal, all of which featured in the top ten export positions by volume.

The Tajik government has also announced plans to increase the production of primary aluminum by an average of 20% annually. This initiative is aimed at strengthening the country’s presence in the global non-ferrous metals market and boosting the share of value-added goods in its export portfolio.
