The authorities of Tajikistan have urged citizens to give top priority to ensuring the availability of food products on the domestic consumer market, especially during the winter season. This call was made by President Emomali Rahmon in his congratulatory speech marking the celebration of Mehrgon, Sputnik Tajikistan reported.
President Rahmon emphasized the importance of completing the harvest in full, building up reserves of agricultural products, and finishing autumn sowing on time amid a sharp rise in global food prices.
He noted that the unprecedented increase in agricultural commodity prices is driven by global geopolitical instability, climate change, and ongoing economic and financial crises. In this context, Rahmon called on officials and agricultural specialists to redouble their efforts to strengthen the country’s food security by boosting production volumes and creating necessary reserves of agricultural products.
The president also stressed the need for effective measures to ensure the population’s access to essential foodstuffs ahead of the winter period, when pressure on the national consumer market traditionally intensifies.
