Islamic State militants are behind a recent explosion near the Afghan Foreign Ministry in Kabul, Taliban deputy spokesman Bilal Karimi said, according to Orien.info.
"One thing is clear... such ominous phenomena are carried out only by ISIS militants. Fortunately, in Afghanistan they have been eliminated by 99% by intelligence forces," Karimi said in a conversation with RIA Novosti.
Earlier, local media reported that the explosion occurred in Kabul near the building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, when security forces tried to neutralize a suicide bomber.
At the moment, 6 civilian casualties are known, as well as 12 injured.
The explosion occurred in the administration building of the Afghan city of Mazar-i-Sharif, as a result of which the governor of the region, Mohammad Daoud Muzzammil, was killed.
A terrorist wearing an explosive vest entered the regional administration building and blew himself up while Muzzammil was negotiating with a Taliban delegation arriving from Kabul.
According to various sources, the victims were from 2 to 15 people. The Islamic State group claimed responsibility for the attack.
