Taliban Minister Accuses Pakistan of Opposing Strong Afghan Government

Afghanistan’s Taliban-run Minister of Energy and Water, Abdul Latif Mansoor, has accused Pakistan of opposing the existence of a stable and independent central government in Afghanistan—regardless of who leads it, Afintl.af reported.

Speaking to Shamshad TV, Mansoor alleged that Islamabad deliberately fuels internal crises to serve its own interests. He stressed that Afghanistan is not being used as a launchpad for attacks on neighboring countries, and claimed that fighters from Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) operate from Pakistan’s own tribal areas.

His remarks come amid cautious rapprochement between Kabul and Islamabad following two years of tense relations. Recently, Pakistan’s foreign and interior ministers visited Afghanistan for talks on security, the TTP, and economic cooperation. Both sides agreed to upgrade diplomatic ties.

A planned visit by Taliban Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi to Pakistan did not take place, as the UN Security Council denied him travel permission.
