According to the diplomatic mission, Shahin held talks with Richard Lindsey, the UK Special Envoy for Afghanistan; Patrick De Vries, Senior Advisor at the European Institute of Peace; and Virginia Gamba, the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Children and Armed Conflict, reports Afintl.af.

During the meeting with the British envoy, the political situation in Afghanistan, humanitarian programs, education issues, and prospects for bilateral relations were discussed. Talks with Patrick De Vries focused on the Taliban’s engagement with the European Union, regional security, global challenges, and measures to build trust between the international community and the movement.

A separate meeting was held with the UN delegation led by Virginia Gamba, where key topics included the humanitarian agenda, protection of children in armed conflict, and access to education in Afghanistan.

These contacts in Doha come amid intensifying discussions in Europe about Afghanistan’s future. Earlier, South Asia Magazine reported that two international organizations in Brussels organized a discussion on Taliban policies, the need for political reforms, and ways to overcome the country’s prolonged crisis. Representatives of opposition movements, EU diplomats, and staff from European institutions participated in the event.

At the same time, several prominent Afghan politicians — Ahmad Masoud, Abdul Rashid Dostum, Mohammad Ismail Khan, Mohammad Hanif Atmar, Mohammad Yunus Qanuni, Mohammad Mohaqeq, and Atta Mohammad Nur — announced the creation of a new political platform. The coalition calls for the start of inclusive peace talks under the auspices of the UN and international partners.

According to the embassy, all contacts in Doha are focused on discussing political and humanitarian issues that remain crucial for Afghanistan’s future.
