TAPI and TAP projects discussed at meetings in Islamabad with participation of Turkmenistan

Turkmenistan's Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov, during his visit to Islamabad, met with the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari, reports Orient.tm.

The meeting discussed a wide range of Turkmen-Pakistani cooperation issues in the context of previously reached agreements and future prospects. Regarding the development of economic partnership, both sides noted the substantial potential for increasing trade volumes and diversifying mutually beneficial ties.

Special attention was given to energy and transportation, with an emphasis on the importance of strengthening cooperation in the implementation of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline and the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP) power transmission line projects.

The parties discussed the preparation of bilateral documents aimed at advancing joint projects in the energy and transportation sectors, according to Turkmenistan's Foreign Ministry press service.

TAPI and TAP projects were also discussed during Meredov's meeting with Pakistan's Federal Minister of Energy, Musadik Masood Malik. Both sides highlighted the strategic importance of these large-scale projects in strengthening regional connectivity, promoting economic growth, and meeting the energy needs of participating countries.

It was noted that the TAP power transmission line and the TAPI gas pipeline will play a significant role in meeting Pakistan's industrial electricity demand. A proposal was made to develop a roadmap for joint actions in the energy sector.
