The Center of Islamic Civilization in Tashkent will present a facsimile of the Book of Fixed Stars, created in 960 by the renowned astronomer Abd al-Rahman al-Sufi, the Center’s press service reports.

Although the original manuscript has not survived, its copies are preserved in leading collections around the world, including libraries in Oxford, London, and Paris. According to experts, the work reflects the remarkable achievements of medieval astronomy and laid the foundation for the development of navigational instruments and modern technologies such as GPS.

The exhibition will also feature a multimedia installation, artifacts, and interactive materials illustrating the history of astronomy—from the works of al-Biruni to contemporary models.

Established on the initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the Center of Islamic Civilization seeks to promote the values of enlightened Islam as a religion of peace and tolerance by highlighting its scientific and cultural heritage.
