Tax debt of large enterprises in Tajikistan grown

The joint venture "Sangtudinskaya HPP-1," in which Russia holds 75% ownership and Tajikistan holds 25%, has the largest tax debt in the country for the first half of 2023. This was announced during a press conference by the Chairman of the Tax Committee under the Government of Tajikistan, Nusratullo Davlatzoda, as reported by TASS.

The tax debt of Sangtudinskaya HPP amounts to 94 million somoni ($8.6 million), Davlatzoda stated.

However, as of July 2023, the company had previously reported that the debt of the Tajik energy holding "Barki Tojik" to the HPP had reached 2.71 billion somoni ($246.8 million).

Davlatzoda added that the mining company "Talco Resource" is in second place among debtors, with a debt volume of 39 million somoni ($3.6 million), the Chinese mining company "TVEA" owes 36.5 million somoni ($3.32 million), OJSC "Rogun HPP" owes 33.3 million somoni ($3 million), and the company "Tajiktelecom" owes 31.5 million somoni ($2.86 million).

The total volume of tax debt in the republic for the first half of the year amounted to 764.3 million somoni ($69.6 million), increasing by 36.2 million somoni ($3.3 million) during this period.
