Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, speaking on Wednesday at a parade in Astana marking the 80th anniversary of Victory in World War II, stated that strengthening the country’s defense capabilities remains a top priority, Vlast.kz reports.
“We have taken a firm course toward modernizing the Armed Forces and enhancing the army’s potential (…). The state will always support military personnel, special service officers, and civil defense units,” Tokayev said.
He emphasized that the strength of the army lies “in the high morale of its personnel, strict discipline, and order.”
“Your impeccable service is a key factor in the country’s security and the peace of its citizens. As a progressive nation, we must strictly adhere to the Law and Order. Everyone must be a worthy and responsible citizen,” he added.
Tokayev called the army “a pillar of the country’s Independence.”
“Kazakh soldiers firmly defend the state’s territorial integrity, the peace and security of its people. Kazakhstan’s Armed Forces contribute to maintaining international peace and stability. Our troops are successfully participating in United Nations peacekeeping missions. This reflects the high level of trust the global community places in our army,” the president emphasized.
The Victory Day parade, commemorating the 80th anniversary, was the first military parade held in Kazakhstan in the past five years. Thousands of servicemen took part, and the parade was led by Major General Mereke Kuchekbayev, Commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
