The President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, once again outlined the country's position on the situation around Ukraine, expressing hope for an early "establishment of a lasting peace," the Administration of the President of Kazakhstan reports.

What Tokayev said:

  • It is necessary to follow the UN charter to support the organization as irreplaceable and universal in the world.
  • It is necessary to support all peace initiatives voiced by China, as well as other states.

The head of Kazakhstan expressed hope that a ceasefire would be reached in Ukraine soon.

“As for Kazakhstan, we are ready to make our contribution to achieving this goal. I should also note that we are strategic partners with Russia. We are members of the same organizations. Therefore, our goal is to remain in close contact with Russia in order to strengthen our mutual cooperation both on a bilateral basis and in relevant international organizations,” Tokayev concluded.

On Saturday, June 17, at the national kurultai "Adiletti Kazakhstan - Adal Azamat", Tokayev said that the aggravation of the international situation is fraught with the most serious negative consequences for the safe existence of a number of states and peoples.
