Tokayev urges to expand cultural and humanitarian cooperation in Central Asia

The Forum is a unique discussion platform that allows jointly discuss professional positions, the views of specialists, according to the welcoming speech of the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, at the first Central Asian Media Forum. His speech was read out by the State Counselor of Kazakhstan Yerlan Karin, Kazinform reports.

The first Central Asian media forum began its work on December 20 in Astana.

“This year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between our fraternal countries. It is symbolic that the ceremony of signing an agreement on friendship, good neighborliness and cooperation, which provides for the joint development of Central Asia in the 21st century, began this anniversary year. I am confident that the strategic document will give a new impetus to strengthening our comprehensive partnership,” Tokayev said in a speech.

The President of Kazakhstan recalled his proposal, voiced at the fourth consultative meeting of the heads of state of Central Asia, to open a common TV channel broadcasting about events in our countries, or to create a special website.

“At today's forum, this issue will also be discussed privately. We should not be limited to the regional information space in the era of globalization. It is important to create joint media products and promote common values at the international level. Thus, we show the creativity of ideas and show the bright activity of the countries of Central Asia,” Tokayev said in his speech.
