The trade turnover between Kyrgyzstan and Russia in the first nine months of 2022 exceeded $2 billion, which is 42% more than in the same period of 2021, Chairman of the Kyrgyz Cabinet of Ministers Akylbek Zhaparov said at a meeting with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk, Interfax reports.

Exports from Kyrgyzstan to Russia almost doubled, Zhaparov added.

Zhaparov and Overchuk held a meeting in Bishkek within the framework of the intergovernmental Kyrgyz-Russian commission on trade, economic, scientific, technical and humanitarian cooperation.

The Kyrgyz Cabinet chairman recalled that at the Kyrgyz-Russian investment forum in early October, documents were signed on the implementation of investment projects totaling about $500 million.

“Kyrgyzstan is interested in further building up trade and economic relations with the Russian Federation, attracting investments, increasing bilateral trade,” Zhaparov stressed.

Overchuk, for his part, noted that the two countries are strategic partners and allies in Central Asia, and their cooperation is multifaceted and aimed at developing Eurasian integration processes.
