Trade between Tajikistan and China reaches record volume

Bilateral trade between Tajikistan and China increased by 42.3% in 11 months of 2022 and for the first time in the history of bilateral relations reached a record level of $1 billion 95 million, Tajik Economic Development Minister Zavki Zavkizoda said, Avesta reports.

He stated this at a meeting of the Subcommittee on Trade and Economic Cooperation between Tajikistan and the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China, which was held in Dushanbe with the participation of Deputy Chairman of the People's Government of the XUAR of China, Sun Hongme.

The meeting also considered such issues as attracting direct investment to Tajikistan, expanding trade between the two countries, including the export of products from Tajikistan to the XUAR, increasing the volume of cargo transportation through the Dushanbe-Kulma border checkpoint.

The issues of attracting Chinese investments for the construction of the Dushanbe-Kulma highway, the creation of joint industrial enterprises, especially in the free economic zones of Tajikistan, were also discussed.

The parties also discussed the further development of relations in the field of transport and logistics, cooperation in the field of green economy, energy and e-commerce.

In this regard, it was stated that at present the People's Republic of China is the second largest trading partner of Tajikistan.

The participants of the meeting visited the free economic zone "Dangara" in the south of Tajikistan in order to create an industrial enterprise there.
