There has been a record increase in trade between Kyrgyzstan and China – from January to July 2024, the volume of trade between the two countries amounted to $3.613 billion, which is 33.3% more compared to the same period in 2023, reports Economist.kg.
These figures were announced by Deputy Minister of Economy of Kyrgyzstan Iskender Asylkulov during a meeting with a delegation from China’s National Development and Reform Commission, led by Zhang Jianhua, Deputy Director of the Department for Foreign Capital Utilization and Overseas Investment, the press service of Kyrgyzstan's Ministry of Economy reports.
The meeting also discussed the tourism potential of Kyrgyzstan. It was noted that the country attracts tourists due to its diverse landscapes and climatic conditions, which promote the development of year-round tourism.
Among the promising projects in Kyrgyzstan are the creation of a ski cluster, the construction of sports complexes, the development of 32 rehabilitation and wellness resorts, small airports, and glamping sites worth over $2 billion. One of the most ambitious projects in this area is the "Three Peaks" tourism cluster.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to intensify bilateral cooperation in energy, agriculture, tourism, and industry.
