All participants in the largest project in the region, launched back in 2015 and supported by international financial institutions, are interested in the early launch of the TAPI gas pipeline.
Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India should benefit from the project. It is these countries that the gas pipeline will connect and provide gas to the countries of South Asia. The design capacity of the pipeline is 33 billion cubic meters. m, length - about 1.8 thousand km.
By this time, Turkmenistan had built its part of the pipeline from the Galkynysh field to the border with Afghanistan (214 km). Other countries have not started laying the gas pipeline yet.
Work on the project was suspended until the stabilization of the situation in Afghanistan. Apparently, that moment has come. At least a delegation from Turkmenistan arrived in Pakistan to discuss the details of the construction of the TAPI gas pipeline.
Pakistani Oil Minister Musadiq Masood, during a meeting with representatives of Turkmenistan, spoke about the importance of the TAPI project for the transformation of the entire region, and also said that his country would appoint a high-ranking official to solve problems related to the construction of the gas pipeline. Then negotiations took place between the parties. Their result was the signing of a joint plan for the implementation of the Trans-Afghan gas pipeline project.
“TAPI is a very important project for the prosperity of this entire region, starting from Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan, and ending with Kabul, Islamabad and India,” Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif responded to the signing of the document.
