The Trans-Caspian Corridor Investor Forum was held in Tashkent, focusing on strengthening transport connectivity between Central Asia and the European Union via the South Caucasus and the Black Sea, Gazeta.uz reports.

Participants emphasized the need for coordinated efforts, the removal of logistical bottlenecks, and infrastructure modernization.

Uzbekistan’s Minister of Transport Ilkhom Makhkamov noted that the Middle Corridor is becoming a key route linking China, Central Asia, and Europe. According to forecasts, cargo volumes along this route could reach 10 million tons by 2030, but this will require addressing bottlenecks and building an integrated Eurasian transport space.

EU representatives stressed the importance of reliable routes between Europe and Asia. Commissioners Josef Sikela and Marta Kos stated that new agreements will help develop infrastructure, digital services, and logistics, while reducing the region’s dependence on a single transport route.

The forum also presented projects to modernize roads and ports in Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan, as well as initiatives aimed at enhancing technical and “soft” connectivity. The EU, EBRD, and World Bank will finance preparatory studies designed to accelerate the modernization of the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor and expand the region’s trade opportunities.
