Uzbekistan has entered into an agreement with a major Turkish company for the construction of a new power station. The agreement was signed between the Ministry of Investments, Industry, and Trade of Uzbekistan and the Turkish company AKSA Enerji, which will build a 400 MW power station in Uzbekistan. Uzbekistan has committed to purchasing the electricity produced by the investor throughout the entire 25-year contractual operation period.
AKSA Enerji will invest $250 million in the construction of a 400 MW gas piston power station in the Nishan district of the Kashkadarya region under a public-private partnership, Uzbek Ministry reports.
The Turkish company will be responsible for the design, financing, construction, and operation of the power station throughout the project's 25-year implementation period. The start of construction is planned for December 2023, with the power station expected to be operational by the end of 2024.
Additionally, an agreement on the purchase of electricity was signed between the Turkish company and the National Electric Grids of Uzbekistan, ensuring the Uzbek side guarantees the purchase of electricity from the under-construction station for 25 years of its operation.
