Turkmen and Russian companies sign contracts worth over $2 bln

Turkmen and Russian companies signed contracts for 150 billion Russian rubles (or $2.17 billion at the official exchange rate of the Russian ruble on January 20) as part of the Turkmen-Russian business forum held in Ashgabat, TASS reports citing the Russian Ministry of Economic Development.

“Following the results of the two-day work at the forum, Russian and Turkmen companies signed more than fifty bilateral agreements for a total amount of 150 billion rubles,” said Dmitry Volvach, Deputy Head of the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia.

The official noted that Turkmenistan is a reliable partner for Russia in the field of industrial cooperation and entrepreneurs of the two countries are ready to develop new projects.

He also added that more than 20 investment projects with Russian participation worth $3.5 billion are currently being implemented in Turkmenistan. New projects are being prepared for launch in the field of transport, construction, automotive and shipbuilding, pharmaceuticals, geological exploration, and the oil and gas industry.
