At the moment, Uzbekistan is using electricity that Kyrgyzstan bought from Turkmenistan, Talaibek Baigaziev, chairman of the board of the Kyrgyz National Energy Holding, said, Sputnik Kyrgyzstan reports.
Earlier, Bishkek and Ashgabat agreed that 1.3 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity generated in Turkmenistan will be supplied to Kyrgyzstan this year.
"The transitor - the energy system of Uzbekistan - cannot miss such volumes: there is a large deficit there. They receive this electricity, but it does not reach us. In general, they have undertaken obligations (to return electricity)," Baigaziev said.
He also stressed that power engineers of neighboring countries often help each other during periods of maximum consumption.
Recall that since last week, rolling blackouts have become more frequent in Uzbekistan. The reasons for this are the shortage of natural gas for thermal power plants, the growth in consumption and the fear of a complete blackout.
