The State Museum of the State Cultural Center of Turkmenistan houses over 157,000 exhibits, according to a statement from the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan on the occasion of the museum's 25th anniversary, Turkmenportal.tm reports.

Museum specialists regularly study historical, ethnographic, zoological, botanical, paleontological, and other collections, prepare scientific reports, and publish articles in the press. In the current year of 2023 alone, more than 80 articles on various topics related to the exhibits and the activities of the State Museum of Turkmenistan have been published.

One of the main tasks of the museums is to organize temporary, thematic, and traveling exhibitions. In 2023, the State Museum of Turkmenistan organized exhibitions as part of the Country's Culture Days in Azerbaijan, the Republic of Korea, China, Tajikistan, Romania, Armenia, the United States, and Uzbekistan.

The State Museum of Turkmenistan was established in 1998 based on two previously existing museums - the National History and Ethnography of Turkmenistan and the Fine Arts of Turkmenistan.

The total area of the architectural ensemble of the three museum buildings in the center of Ashgabat is more than 28,000 square meters. In front of the museum is the Guinness World Record-listed State Flag of Turkmenistan.
