Turkmenistan achieved growth in lending since beginning of 2023

The Chairman of the Central Bank of Turkmenistan, Toyly Myalikov, announced that the total amount of loans issued by Turkmenistan's banks as of July 1, 2023, has increased by 5.1% compared to the same period last year. Additionally, the income of credit institutions has seen a growth of 1.7%. These remarks were made during a presentation on the financial and banking sector's performance in the first six months of the year at an expanded government meeting, the state news agency TDH reports.

Chairman Myalikov highlighted the notable growth in lending to the non-state sector, individuals, agricultural producers, and mortgage borrowers.

President Berdimuhamedov emphasized the importance of ensuring stable financial resource circulation in the economy, the targeted utilization of loans, enhancing loan efficiency, and expanding cooperation with international financial organizations. He also instructed the study of financing sources for national investment projects and the intensification of other banks' involvement in lending to the manufacturing sectors of the economy.
