A trilateral meeting took place in Kabul between the Director-General of the Transport and Communications Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Mammethan Chakyev, the Minister of Trade and Industry of Afghanistan, Nuriddin Azizi, and the Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Serik Zhumangarin.
The parties reached agreements on the development of joint transport corridors and the establishment of a large logistics center in Turgundi on the Afghan-Turkmen border, the "Turkmenaragatnashyk" agency reports.
Considering the strategic location of the countries, issues regarding the establishment of preferential tariffs for Afghan exports, increasing the supply of marble, limestone, and other minerals from Afghanistan, as well as expanding trade and transit agreements between the three states were discussed. Plans also include establishing supplies of oil and gas from Turkmenistan to Afghanistan.
Special attention was given to the development of railway infrastructure in Afghanistan, issues related to quarantine for Afghan export and transit cargo, reducing transport and transit costs, as well as strengthening banking ties to facilitate mutual settlements.
The creation of a joint logistics center will optimize freight flows, expedite customs clearance, and increase the efficiency of transit transportation between the countries of the region.
